Irish Set Dancing Ceili at the Celtic Junction

Irish set dancing is both the once traditional folk dance of Ireland as well as today's high energy activity that is very much alive throughout Ireland, America and across the world. Set dancing is done with four couples in a square, often in waltz hold, and danced to the traditional jigs, reels, polkas and hornpipes of Ireland. Traditionally the dances were not called as folks knew their own local dances. Since the revival of Irish set dancing in the 70s and 80s, dancers have tried to keep the tradition alive by learning the dances instead of relying on a caller. Today we do dances from all over Ireland so Tim McAndrew will be on hand to prompt the evening and call as needed.

Live music by Marty McHugh, Tom Lockney and other guest musicians.

No need to bring a partner, but grab one if you have one. Please bring separate smooth-sole shoes.

You are encouraged to BYOB and snacks to share if you'd like!
